Expert knowledge at Rotherham Family History Society

WITH a new series of “Who Do You Think You Are” on BBC TV, have you ever wondered about the origins of your family? Have you an unusual surname and are there stories circulating in your family about members long gone?

Rotherham Family History Society can help! With over 200 members there is a vast range of expertise on how to track down those elusive relatives.

The group meets on the first Thursday of every month at the Liberty Church Hall on Station Road, Masbrough. Meetings begin at 7pm.

The society welcomes new members and have has a wide range of speakers at meetings with subjects as diverse as the First World War; Conisbrough Castle; Mary Queen of Scots; Wentworth Woodhouse and the Fitzwilliams, to name but a few.

There are also workshop evenings when experienced members can help those thinking about beginning their family history or just starting out. Research media and the internet are available to aid your research and the group has an extensive photographic collection of Rotherham and surrounding areas which is available to view.
