Dragon boats are back at Manvers

PLATOONS of paddlers are being urged to sign up for an annual clash of the dragons.

Manvers Waterfront Boat Club has announced the date of this year’s dragon boat showdown at Manvers Lake at Saturday, July 9.

As well as races on the lake, there will be family fun activities from face painting to games, amusements to food stalls.

Proceeds will go to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice are raising funds for families and children who need their invaluable services.

A spokesperson for the club said: “The good news is anyone can take part and the event is free to spectators.

“Our boats enable businesses, community groups, friends and families of all sizes to get involved in the fun.

“Teams need at least ten paddlers plus one drummer, or a maximum of 20 paddlers plus one drummer.

“Each team will take part in timed heats, with the three fastest teams going head to head in a dramatic final.”

Entry is £500 per boat.
