Down's Syndrome group bowled over by fundraising total

MORE than 200 members of a social group for people with Down’s Syndrome and their families have kicked off their 20th year with a night of bowling which brought in plenty of “spare” cash.

Rotherham Organisation for Down’s Syndrome held its annual party at the Rotherham Superbowl in Kimberworth with all 24 lanes on both levels booked and RODS members and friends ensuring a near capacity night.

RODS chairman Steve Brookes said: “Thanks to generous donations by the Rotherham Lions, Sheffield International Venues and many others, we raised over £2,000, which will help to fund events like theatre and panto trips, days out and support for people and their families with Down's Syndrome.”

“This year, RODS are particularly focussing on Makaton, the visual signing programme which greatly improves communication and confidence.”
