STORIES of Land Girls and Lumberjills will be uncovered in a free educational class tomorrow.
The WEA (Workers’ Educational Association) — the nation's largest volunteer-run adult education provider — is bringing a free new history course to South Yorkshire.
The project will explore the lives and work of the Women’s Land Army and Timber Corps, female led groups who supported Britain from home during the Second World War.
WEA community reporter Paul Humphreys said: “These Land Girls and LumberJills — as they became known — were instrumental in helping farmers and landowners provide food and produce timber for Britain throughout both the second World War and the post-war period,”
The session be held from 10am to noon tomorrow at The Circle, 33 Rockingham Lane, Sheffield, S1 4FW.
