Dearne Valley youth club offers free summer holiday activities

Free activities and games will be organised at Thurnscoe Sports Field on Mondays until 23, at Bolton Mansion Fields on Fridays until August 27, and at Goldthorpe in the field next to the doctors on Wednesdays until August 25.

All sessions are open to children aged eight to 15, whether or not they are accompanied by an adult.

Children taking part are asked to bring a hat, sun cream and a drink and give their contact details.

The activities are being organised by Dearne Kids Club, who are also running a day trip to Gulliver’s Valley on August 16 and a residential camp for children aged between eight and 15 from August 13 to 15.

Club leader Ian Ball is taking part in a sponsored climb of Scafell Pike in the Lake District on August 18 to raise funds to subsidise further activities.

The club, based at Houghton Road Community Centre in Thurnscoe, will hold its summer fair at the centre from 10am to 3pm on Saturday.
