Dancing queens return to Rotherham

PREPARE for the return of Rotherham’s own dancing queens — the stars of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert.

Ben Loy, Matthew Roddis and Ashley Booker are bringing RMTC’s popular drag queen musical back to the Civic for five nights next week.

The trio went down a storm at the same venue in 2017 and are in final rehearsals ahead of their comeback, which has been held up by Covid.

The camptastic musical features dancefloor favourites including It’s Raining Men, I Will Survive, and Hot Stuff — as well as more than 70 costume changes for the three leads.

Ash promised a fabulously flamboyant show and that the outrageous wigs and outfits will be “bigger and better” this year.

But there will also be a touch of poignancy for cast and crew as it is RMTC’s first show since the death last month of their long-time costume mistress and publicity officer Hilary Pratt.

The show starts at 7.15pm next Tuesday to Saturday, with a matinee next Saturday.
