Curtain-up again for theatre group after two years away from the Civic

A THEATRE company makes its long-awaited Civic comeback tonight — two years after staging the last show before lockdown hit.

Maltby Musical Theatre Group performed Barnum at the town theatre just before Covid restrictions were announced and had to shelve their 2021 production of Curtains The Musical.

But after keeping their team spirit alive on Zoom, they are now back in rehearsal for Curtains, which opens tonight.

Rachel Smith, of MMTG, said: “Now we are back to rehearsing face to face and enjoying every minute of it.”

Curtains, written by the creators of Chicago and Cabaret, is set in a Boston theatre in 1959.

The fast-paced show promises some great musical numbers, plenty of comedy and a mystery to solve along the way.

Rachel said: “After what has been a difficult time, we would love to welcome audiences back to the Civic and promise a great evening of entertainment.”

Tickets for the show, which runs until next Saturday, are available at rotherhamtheatres.co.uk.
