Creepy comic capers in Castle Frankenstein for theatre-going families

A SPOOKY show will transport to Castle Frankenstein for an evening of comical creepy fun.

Far Far away Theatre is presenting Hallowe’en family musical I Want My Mummy! at The Montgomery Theatre in Sheffield from next Tuesday to Thursday.

The play sees Baroness Frankenstein opening the doors of her castle to creatures of the night looking for a safe place to stay, away from the prying eyes and pitchforks of the townsfolk.

But the the problem is, it’s not technically her castle anymore and the penniless Baroness faces the threat of hotelier Hannah Hooope, who believes she has bought the stately pile.

Aided by her assistant Igor and a gang of ghostly housemates, the Baroness must convince Mrs Hoople that the castle is in fact a luxury hotel and not a dusty old laboratory — and all in one night!

Pitched at big and little monsters alike, the show is full of show-stopping tunes, crazy characters and spooky silliness.

There’s also a fancy dress competition with a prize for the best costume.

I Want My Mummy! is on at 7pm on Tuesday, 1pm (signed performance) and 3.30pm on Wednesday and 11am and 2pm on Thursday.

Slightly less spooky in tone is Red Earth Theatre’s Soonchild, which is at the Montgomery on Sunday at 2.30pm.

Set in the Arctic Circle, Soonchild is the story of John and his wife whose baby refuses to be born until she can hear the World Songs.

John embarks on a quest to find the songs and save the world, aided by a cool cast of Polar creatures.

This cosmic Northern Lights show is aimed at all children aged over five plus their families.
