COUNTRY star Mary Duff brought a ray of lockdown sunshine to one of her biggest fans with a surprise Zoom call.
The singer-songwriter enjoyed a video chat with Tim Foers, of Eastwood, and they performed one of his favourite songs together, after he told meals-on-wheels provider Wiltshire Farm Foods he’d love to meet her.
Tim (41) is a long-time fan of Mary’s and has attended many of her concerts.
He had no idea about the Zoom chat until his delivery driver, Rebecca Taylor, arrived on his doorstep to share the good news.
“I couldn’t believe it when Rebecca told me that Mary would be singing me one of my favourite songs, ‘Somewhere Between’, over Zoom,” he said.
“I joined the call minutes later and there she was.
“Her voice is incredible, and she was so lovely - just as I imagined she would be. It’s been a dream come true singing with her.”
Wiltshire Farm Foods asked customers to say what would bring them sunshine, in the words of the famous song.
Mary said she was delighted to help out, adding: “I jumped at the opportunity to be involved.
“It’s always wonderful for me to meet fans, even if it has to take place ‘virtually’ at the moment - and miraculously we didn’t have any connectivity issues which was even better.
“I so enjoyed talking to Tim — he had a great sense of humour — and I hope to see him at one of my concerts next year when we’re touring again.”
