Conisbrough and Denaby turn back time for heritage day

Venues around Conisbrough and Denaby took part in a showcase of local history.

A VICTORIAN choir performing in church was one of the highlights as twin villages turned back the clock for the day.

The singers (pictured), all in period dress, gave two performances at St Peter’s Church in Conisbrough as part of the It’s Our Heritage event on Saturday.

Venues around Conisbrough and Denaby took part in the showcase, which co-organiser Penny Lloyd-Rees said “went very well even with the weather letting the side down”.

An archaeology group carried out a graveyard survey, residents had the chance to search through church registers, re-enactment group Inferna Peditum pitched up at Conisbrough Castle, there were Second World War jeeps to try out in Denaby and the Dinnington Brass Band performed a selection of traditional tunes.
