Community pulls together to raise cash in honour of Kimberworth’s Emily

A host of volunteers have offered to lose their locks, get up and sing or get in the ring to support the Weston Park Cancer Charity in honour of Emily Lunn, from Kimberworth.

The fun starts with a sponsored run organised by local girl Lydia Tinker at the Concord Sports Centre in Shiregreen, Sheffield on Saturday morning.

That evening, a charity night at the Manor Barn on Kimberworth Road from 7pm will see supporters Billy Lunn and Jane Havenhand braving the shave and sacrificing their hair to the clippers.

There will also be a disco, auction and a raffle, with auction lots on raffle prizes including golf green fees for four and tickets and signed memorabilia from Rotherham United.

On Sunday morning, Emily’s friend Adele Marsden is organising a sponsored spinathon at Sheffield’s Institute of Sport.

And next Friday, eight-year-old Evie O’Connor will have her long hair cut at the Hair Culture salon for charity, with her locks going to the Little Princess Trust.

Landlady Bridie Mayock is also getting involved and has signed up to making her boxing debut in a Pink Collar Boxing bout at Hillsborough in March.

Close friend Kellie Cassidy, who is co-organising the Saturday night event, said Emily, who is undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer, had been “overwhelmed” by how much support she had received.
