Children’s hospice day remembers young lives lost

The ceremony usually takes place in the children’s hospice gardens at North Anston but social precautions are still being taken.

It meant bereaved families remembering loved ones could join the digital event from anywhere — and each received a care package.

This featured a candle to light in memory of their child, along with flowers courtesy of Sheffield business Sundew Florist.

About 100 people joined the live-streamed ceremony, which included poems, readings, and precious memories.

Emma Doughty, head of family support at Bluebell Wood, said: “Remembering Day is a very special date in Bluebell Wood’s.

“While we would have loved to have brought everyone together at the hospice, I’m very proud of our team for pulling together to create a powerful, moving and beautiful day where families and staff alike could remember all those who have been a part of the Bluebell Wood family.

“I’d also like to say a big thank you to the brilliant volunteers from Tufcot Engineering for helping to pack our care packages and to Sundew Florists and Swizzels for providing the wonderful flowers and sweet treats.”
