Charity total driven up by golf day

A GOLF day which teed up a top total for charity was hailed as such a success it could become an annual event.

Staff from Mears Group raised £7,000 for Dementia UK and Millers Memory Club with the golf and family fun day at Roundwood Golf and Social Club.

Millers Memory Club — a support group set up by Rotherham United Football Club (RUFC) for people facing Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

Sam Hall, Mears General Manager, said: “The desire to make a positive difference in the community has always been at the heart of our business

and the Golf Family Fun Day was no exception.

“We’re absolutely delighted to have been able to raise much-needed funds for a brilliant local charity as well as supporting the vital work of Dementia UK.”

The Millers Memory Club meets once a month in the Community Sports

Trust’s recreational area on the ground floor of the football club and anyone is welcome to attend.
