Chance to make new friends and meet old ones at upcoming Rotherham friendship lunches

FRIENDSHIP-forging, loneliness-fighting meet-ups return next week, with a new venue added to the programme.

The latest Music Makes Memories Friendship Lunch will be held from noon on Monday at the Ring O Bells in Kimberworth, while the popular friendship lunch returns to the Story Teller in Parkgate at the same time on Monday, July 18.

Tickets for both events cost £10 and include a two-course lunch and live entertainment from musician Oliver Harris.

Kathy Markwick, who organises the events, said Oliver had attracted a group of diehard fans known as the Yellow T-shirt brigade (above), who travel all over to see him.

The group’s founder, Betty Tynan, said: “The Friendship Lunches have literally changed our lives.

“We have been locked up because of Covid and we now take every opportunity to socialise."

Kathy said: "The events are a fantastic way to meet old friends and make new ones, to dine and to have a dance."
