Chance to audition for place at Maltby musical theatre academy

A THEATRE academy which has produced actors for soaps and top touring productions is holding open auditions on Saturday.

CAST Academy is inviting budding performers aged seven to 18 to come to their training facility in Maltby.

The musical theatre academy, which has been running for five years, is looking for children who are interested in a career in TV, film or theatre.

CAST Academy graduates have gone on to appear in ITV’s Coronation Street, The Voice and in critically-acclaimed UK touring productions such as Dr Doolittle and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Successful auditionees will get a place on CAST Academy’s Star Team course which provides coaching in singing, acting, dancing and audition techniques.

Those who are signed up for the course attend weekly classes aimed at developing their performing abilities and receive coaching from industry professionals such as casting director Lee Mountjoy and the West End’s Amy Ross.

Students also receive bespoke support and coaching for any parts they audition for.

Academy co-owner Rebecca Elliot said after launching the Star Team earlier in the year the majority of its students had landed paid acting work.

Rebecca said: “We truly want the best for each of our students here at CAST Academy.

“That’s why we’ve launched the Star Team.

“We work alongside our students as they attended professional auditions to ensure they’re as prepared as they can be.

“This is what differentiates us from a typical talent representative.

“We really get to understand each of our students and nurture their abilities so they’re as confident as they can be.

“If you think you or your child has what it takes to be a professional performer come down to our auditions and show us what you’ve got!”

Star Team student Alex Rose Wright (13) recently landed a role in the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang international tour.

Alex said: “I love the Star Team lessons, they’re so much fun and I have learnt so much already.

“My favorite part about being on the Star Team is the ongoing training and support.

“The teachers at CAST Academy put the feedback into practice to make sure that when I go to auditions I’m the best I can be and that I’m continually improving audition after audition.

“I really feel like my skills have improved leaps and bounds since I started in January.”
