Rianna (31), of Hoylandswaine, said: “To save money and also for a more informal approach don't have a sit down meal. We opted for a bought-in buffet in our own garden and it was really relaxed and enjoyable and totally stress-free.

“If you’re getting married in a church it adds to the atmosphere if you have a choir singing, especially if your friends are not enthusiastic hymn singers or just can't hit the high notes.

“Dance like a mad person all night while your hubby does the socialising and thanking everyone for taking part in your special day.

“Make sure that the venue staff know exactly what they are doing with your decorations to avoid disappointment.

“Make your own invitations and order of service to add a personal touch.”
