Big band treat as singer Roger Brooks teams up with long-running favourites

BIG band music makes a return to Rotherham this week when the town’s long-established Colin Yates Big Band reunites with singer Roger Brooks for a concert in Brinsworth.

The show at Brinsworth Pavilion on Wednesday, July 6, will be the band’s first performance after a two year break due to Covid, and, according to Colin, they are “raring to go”.

He added: “The whole band has missed the buzz of playing for an audience, and we’ve chosen a programme that encompasses tunes from some of the biggest names in big band music, from Glen Miller to the current band scene, with lots of very familiar music all evening.

“We’re out to prove that this kind of  melodic and powerful stuff still has what it takes to get an audience going, whether tapping their feet or dancing along.”

The show also marks Roger Brooks’ return to the big band stage after an absence of several years.

“Although I’ve sung lots of different types of music, I always enjoy being swept along by the dynamic sounds of the Colin Yates Band, and I can promise that every song we'll be doing together will be one of the classics that people can recognise and enjoy,” he said.

“I can’t wait.”

Brinsworth Pavilion is licensed and there’s plenty of parking. The show starts at 8pm and admission is is £4 on the door.
