Astronomy society looks to the skies in September

SEPTEMBER is a busy month for members of an astronomical society.

 

Members of Mexborough and Swinton Astronomical Society have a number of lectures by experts and public outreach initiatives planned.

Society meetings – all in the meeting room at Swinton Bottom Club on Station Road, Swinton – will feature a talk by Dr R Mike L Evans called Aperture Fever on September 10, a visit by Dr Matthew Malek on September 17 and the MSAS Astromind Competition on September 24. 

All meetings start at 7.45pm.

The society will be hosting a community access event on September 18 at the JA Jones Hoober Observatory on Lea Brook Lane, Wentworth, from 7.45pm to 11pm which is by appointment only. Anyone interested should contact Les Marsden on 01709 584217.

On September 19 there is another public event called A Night Under The Stars at Thrybergh Country Park. The event is free. It will take place from 6.30pm to 10pm.
