Aston-cum-Aughton History Group will be opening the William Layne Reading Room on Aughton Lane, Aston for Heritage Open Days on Friday 13th September from 6pm to 8pm and Saturday September 14 from 10 m to 4pm. Visitors can browse our albums of photographs, local maps and documents. Everyone is welcome to visit the Reading Room, which was the first school built in Aston in 1734. It is an important part of the heritage of our parish. Join us for refreshments and reminisce about old times. If you have any documents, maps or photographs of local people and places, please bring them along. We would love to copy them and make them part of our history. The originals will be returned.
