Armed Forces celebration day back
THERE were no crowds of thousands but Rotherham still marked Armed Forces Day by raising the flag back in 2021

ARMED Forces Day returns to Rotherham after a two-year absence with a parade and music in the town centre on Saturday.

Cllr Eve Rose Keenan, RMBC’s armed forces champion, said: “I’m looking forward to seeing families back in the town centre enjoying the celebrations, and I know that it will be an emotional, but proud day for us all.”

The parade leaves College Street at 10.30am, heads up Effingham Street and heads for inspection at All Saints’ Square.

There follows a service of worship and speeches, the official Armed Forces Day flag being lowered by veteran Frank Wells and a performance by a Vera Lynn tribute act.
