Are you a green-fingered guru? The hunt for Rotherham’s best garden is back

AN ANNUAL garden competition for council tenants has added a prize for supporting bees and butterflies.

Rotherham Borough Council has also added a best young gardener category to the awards, which aim to encourage residents to take pride in their properties.

Housing director Tom Bell said: “You don’t have to be a gardening expert. Gardening has lots of health benefits of being active outdoors.

“This year, we also have two new exciting categories: the best pollinator friendly garden supporting bees and butterflies and the best young gardener aged under 25.

“We would like to recognise our tenants for all their hard work which they put into making Rotherham a strong community in a clean and safe environment which is more welcoming and a place to be proud of.”

Entries close on Friday, June 28, and the overall winner will receive £250.
