Actress hopes contest success will put Dearne Valley on the map

PROMISING actress Jordann Ashton is rehearsing hard ahead of a regional contest where she aims to put the Dearne Valley on the map.

The 18-year-old, who has been acting since she was five, will compete in the 

Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire Regional Festivals Championships in Pontefract next Saturday (9).

Jordann, of Albert Road, Mexborough, booked her place by scooping two titles at the Don Valley Festival in March — the Harry Cutts Trophy for the most outstanding competitor in the speech and drama section and first prize in the Acting Solo 16 years and over category.

A member of Cast Academy, she recently passed her diploma in acting and is now working towards a music theatre diploma.  

The Thomas Rotherham College student, who is studying performing arts at college, said she enjoyed different styles of acting, taken taken on roles as varied as Morticia Addams, Velma Kelly and Miss Hannigan.

“I was delighted to win the Harry Cutts Trophy at the Don Valley Festival and overwhelmed to have been nominated for the regional championships."
