A trip to the seaside in sight for residents

CARE home residents have their sights set on the seaside!

Staff at Jubilee Care Home in Greasbrough are hoping to fill up the coffers of their treat fund to pay for a day trip to Cleethorpes.

Their first fund-raising event for the home, which is on Potter Hill, is a summer fair from 2pm to 4pm on August 22, with a variety of stalls featuring homemade goodies, a raffle and a tombola.

Activities co-ordinator Deborah Jones said: “We also have a big Hawaiian backdrop and we hope to persuade volunteers to stick their head through for people to throw wet sponges at.

“We hope to raise enough funds so we can take some of our residents to the coast.

“We want to do something every few months that the residents have told us they want to do to tick off the ‘bucket list’.”

Deborah added: “We also have a sponsored walk around the local area planned for September 4.

“Last year, we raised £1,200 when one of the staff members had her hair shaved off — but I’m not sure we can persuade her to do that again.”
