OLD boys Grant Ward and Tom Adeyemi are among Rotherham United's potential targets as the Millers plot their summer recruitment.

Winger Ward and midfielder Adeyemi are available on free transfers after injury-hit stays with Ipswich Town.

“They are definitely players who have come up on our radar,” revealed Rotherham assistant manager Richie Barker said. “They are on a list of players for us to talk about.”

Ward, still only 24, made 43 loan appearances for the Millers in the Championship in 2015/16, when Neil Warnock masterminded survival, before leaving parent club Spurs to sign a three-year deal with the Tractor Boys.

Adeyemi, 27, scored seven goals in 30 games while on loan from Cardiff City in the 2016/17 second-tier relegation season then moved to Portman Road on a permanent deal.

Rotherham manager Paul Warne was fitness coach when Ward was at AESSEAL New York Stadium. After taking the hot-seat, Warne tried to persuade Adeyemi to stay but at the time Ipswich could offer the midfield man bigger wages and a chance to remain in the second tier.

“They are both players who have been at this club before,” Barker said. “The gaffer knows them as people and everyone knows how important a player's character is when it comes to us making signings.

“Conversations with them haven't taken place but we wouldn't be doing our jobs properly if we didn't know that both were available.”

Ward played 98 games for Ipswich before a cruciate knee ligament injury in December while a variety of problems restricted Adeyemi, who didn't feature at all last term, to five appearances.
