Unlicensed driver found guilty over death of woman (52) in Clifton crossing crash

AN UNLICENSED motorist who killed a woman at a pedestrian crossing while doing more than 40mph in a 30mph area has been found guilty of causing her death by dangerous driving.

Alan Stubbings (54), of Carlisle Place, Rotherham, was driving a silver Ford Focus car when he hit Hasina Idris Mohamed (52, pictured) as she made her way over a pedestrian crossing outside Clifton Park, on Doncaster Road, on August 6, 2016.

Ms Mohamed died at the scene despite efforts from passers-by and paramedics to save her.

A jury of six men and six women returned a unanimous verdict of guilty at Sheffield Crown Court today (Wednesday) after deliberating for 31 minutes, following a two-and-a-half day trial.

Stubbings was remanded into custody and will be sentenced this afternoon.
