DOG-loving football fans are being encouraged to bring their hounds to a game in an attempt to break the world record for canine attendance at a non-league fixture.

Maltby Main Football Club is encouraging supporters to bring their pooch to their fixture against Pontefract Colliery FC on Saturday, April 28, on what is officially Non-League Dog Day.

The club hopes to get 100 dogs to the Muglet Lane ground and their canine mascots, Dandelion and Murdoch, will be there on the day to support the effort.

Maltby Main will also be holding a bucket collection for Support Dogs, a charity which provides disability assistance dogs for people with autism, epilepsy and other disabilities.

It is free to pre-register a dog at the match and all dogs will be given a certificate to confirm their participation.
