Smoking materials start Thurcroft house blaze

THREE fire crews attended a house fire in Thurcroft last night (Wednesday).

Staff from Maltby, Aston and Rotherham stations were called to Zamor Crescent at 7.55pm.

The accidental blaze started in a bedroom and was caused by smoking materials, a South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said.

Occupants were all outside when firefighters arrived and no-one was injured, she added.

Crews left the scene at around 8.50pm.

A crew from Rotherham station was later called to a deliberate car fire in Canklow Road, Canklow, at 10.40pm where a Mazda was alight.

The crew left the scene at 11.10pm.
