Return for Gunners man looks a long shot

ROTHERHAM United have spoken to Jordi Osei-Tutu's parent club Arsenal about a return to AESSEAL New York Stadium next season.

However Millers boss Paul Warne admits it will be difficult to strike another deal for the speedy wide man, who showed flashes of real quality at the back end of his loan stint in South Yorkshire last term.

“I have spoken to Arsenal about Jordi,” confirmed Warne. “He is in the last year of his contract and I don't think he is part of Arsenal's plans.

“He has a few big clubs after him, one in Germany which he is considering.

“Bringing him back is something I would love to be able to do but with the obvious difficulties of getting a player from Arsenal. We might just be priced out of that one.”

Patience will be required if another loan hit from last season, Rarmani Edmonds-Green, is to feature again in Rotherham colours.

The central defender is back at parent club Huddersfield after a strong season-long loan at the NYS.

Warne hopes he hasn't seen the last of the 23-year-old but the player still harbours hopes of a first team breakthrough with the Terriers after they missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season.

Warne said: “I would like to bring ‘REG’ back but it's like when we tried to get him last summer, he was determined to try and win his place in the Huddersfield team after playing a lot of the season before. We got him at the last minute.

“I believe the player wants to fight for his place there again this year and I respect that. Maybe it is something we can revisit later in the window if the opportunity doesn't come for him to play there.

“Because he's a Huddersfield player and not a Rotherham player, it's not my decision and I have to respect theirs.”

Front men Tom Eaves and Will Grigg also remain on the Millers' radar but Warne said there were no developments to report on either.
