Police probe after shots fired at house in Thornhill

POLICE believe an incident in which shots were fired on a Rotherham property was a targeted attack.

Detectives launched an investigation after the firearms discharge at Clough Road in Thornhill at 1am today (Tuesday).

A window and door were damaged and the road has been closed today for enquiries to take place.

Extra officers were deployed to carry out door-to-door enquiries and provide reassurance.

Det Insp Nina Jackson said: “Initial reports indicate that a light-coloured Ford Focus was in the area at the time.

“I’d encourage anyone with CCTV or a dash-cam to check their footage to see if it captured a vehicle matching this description in the area between 12.30am and 1.15am.

“We do believe this to be a targeted attack and we are doing everything we can to track down those responsible.”
