A THUG who subjected a woman to a “sustained and horrifying” attack has been jailed for four-and-a-half years.

Ricky Russell (34), of Kimberworth Road, Bradgate, was jailed at Sheffield Crown Court on February 19 for assaulting a woman in the street on December 15.

Emergency services were called to Kimberworth Road at 1.50pm following reports a man was assaulting a woman, a police spokeswoman said.

A 35-year-old woman was found in a nearby car park with serious head injuries and was taken to hospital.

Russell had subjected the woman to a sustained and horrifying attack and he was arrested close by, the spokeswoman said.

“Through dedicated investigation and victim support evidence was gathered which ultimately led to Russell pleading guilty to a Section 18 GBH offence which was domestic-related,” the spokeswoman added.

Russell was banned from contacting his victim for ten years through a restraining order.

The victim made a full recovery, the spokeswoman said.
