BIG-HEARTED animal lover Janine Cope is hoping supporters will “pony up” and snap up her new charity calendar.
The fundraising publication features rescue animals from her charity, TAK (Todwick and Kiveton) Pony Rescue and Rehoming Centre.
Janine (above) has rescued nearly 40 horses and ponies and found new homes for 11 of them since founding the centre near the Green Bean cafe in Todwick two years ago.
She said many organisations had helped out by selling the calendar last year and other supporters made regular contributions, including the PAWS animal charity shop in Bramley.
Janine founded the charity after rescuing a stricken animal, finding an available field and then being asked to take care of more horses and ponies.
“We pay £600 a month for the field and we need donations to stay open,” she said.
“We put in a lot of hard work and have volunteers aged from 16 to 80 who come down and work for nothing.”
“Some people have a field available where they can look after one for a while and others just want to help with their keep.
“All the horses and ponies are looking for adoption and all want to be rehomed.
“They are also available to adopt from £5 a week.
“I’m so grateful to anyone who does anything.”
The calendars - featuring a rescued animal with a small biography on each page - are priced at £5 each and 100 have been snapped up already.
Janine added: “£5 is not much but it’s two bales of straw which is a lot for us when you’re using four bales a day.
“I cannot believe I’m doing it sometimes.
“It would be easy to say I wouldn’t start it all if I had the chance again but I probably would - I don’t regret it.”
