Free haircuts for the homeless

THE boss of a new hair salon is reaching out to the homeless with the offer of free haircuts.

Lucy Hart, who opened Sleek Hair and Beauty in Wath last month, said she would be opening her doors to people living on the streets for a free wash, cut and dry every Monday from 9am to noon.

“I just thought I wanted to something no-one else does that helps people as well,” she said.

“There are a lot of homeless people in the area.”

Lucy, who said she was also considering organising fundraising events for the homeless, said she was in contact with Rotherham Street Kitchen and hoped they would refer service users to her salon offer.

You can find Sleek on Cemetery Road and no appointment is necessary for the Monday morning sessions.
