COVID-19 in-patient numbers at Rotherham Hospital reached a new peak this week.
George Briggs, chief operating officer for the Rotherham NHS Foundation Foundation Trust, confirmed as of this morning, the hospital were treating 152 inpatients who have tested positive for Covid-19 — a rise of 18 patients from last week — and 12 were in critical care.
This is the highest number of Covid-19 inpatients the hospital has had during the pandemic to date.
A total of 284 patients have died after testing positive for the virus — with 16 new deaths in the last week.
However, Covid-19 infection rates across the borough have continued to fall.
Rotherham had a rate of 368.5 per 100,000 people from the week ending November 14 — a decrease of 14 per cent compared to the week before.
