SOUTH Yorkshire’s own international concert pianist will perform at a celebration for a community-minded group’s centenary.
Polished piano player Ben Frith will play at Hill House School, Auckley, on Tuesday, February 27, accompanied by his fiancée Heidi Rolfe — at times, sharing the same piano.
The musical event, organised by Rotherham Rotary and Doncaster St Leger Rotary, is to mark 100 years of the Rotary Foundation, which turns charity donations into life-changing projects around the world.
Their two-hand and four-hand repertoire will celebrate the musical partnerships between Robert Schumann and his wife Clara, Felix Mendelssohn and his sister Fanny, and the two ladies who arranged Gustav Holt's Planets Suite for piano.
Tickets for the recital are £12 each or £5 for students.
To buy, call Rotarian Michael Sumption on 01709 541420.
All proceeds will go to the Rotary Foundation’s End Polio Now Campaign — an international drive to wipe out the lethal and debilitating disease.
British and Irish Rotary clubs have already raised £20 million to fight polio in the last 30 years, earning Rotary a Nobel Peace Prize nomination.
