Week Two - Reassurance for campers' parents

JUST over a week has passed and Georgia’s phone call was more emotional, she is missing home and her family.

Georgia said she wants to be home and at camp at the same time!

She told us they had run a mile and she had done it in 13 minutes,  she is really proud of her achievement.

She also says the food is quite nice and overall she is having a good experience.

We on the other hand feel like she has been gone a month—not just a week.

Marie is feeling more optimistic after this week’s chat with Tamara. She is still having a good time and told Marie that the activities are great.

But part of her wants to come home still. The positive is she has told herself that she needs to stay.

From a mother’s point of view it is never going to be easy, she is my youngest child but we have to put our feelings aside.

The girls team leader Sadie keeps us both updated at least three times a week and we can phone the camp any time we need to.

But we don’t find it necessary as the feedback we get from Sadie is very reassuring.

There are parents classes on Thursday mornings and evenings for all the campers’ parents. We have been attending the morning one.

It gives us all chance to air our thoughts and feelings, which we find therapeutic.

Amanda and Dawn, who run the group, are very supportive and give us all good advice.
