A new era of hospital charity fundraising

A DOOR has opened on a new era of fundraising for the Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity following the unveiling of an “easily accessible and recognisable” charity hub.

The Mayor of Rotherham, Cllr Tajamal Khan, formally opened the office space for the charity — with a little help from appeal mascot Dr Ted.

Rachael Dawes, head of fundraising, said: “It’s an amazing opportunity for the charity to welcome more people through our doors to find out who we are, what we do to support the trust and the 500,000 patients we care for from Rotherham and beyond every year.

People can now find us more easily so hopefully we can have more discussions about our events, fundraising campaigns and grants.

“People can pop in and make a donation and we’ll be making it easier for everyone to do so by adding an electronic donation point in future. We are also very excited about our new furniture arriving from our sponsors, Southern Broadstock.”

The office is located on the grounds of Rotherham Hospital, opposite the Stock Shop and Boots, and will be open weekdays from 10am to 2.30pm.

Cllr Khan added: “I’ve chosen the Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity as one of my charities of the year because I know they do such wonderful things to enhance patient care in the community and at Rotherham Hospital.

“Their new office means the charity team will be more easily accessible and recognisable. I’m proud to be able to open the new hub and I hope to see lots of fundraisers coming forward to show their support, too.”
