Marksman Ward committed to Millers

ROTHERHAM United chief Kenny Jackett is determined to keep hold of top scorer Danny Ward but accepts his goal scoring will attract the attention of rival clubs.

Despite the team's struggles this season, Ward is playing arguably the best football of his career and has netted eight goals in 15 league games.

While the January transfer window could see offers come in, we understand the 24-year-old is contracted for another full season after this one, strengthening the club's hand.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow's home date with Preston, Jackett said Ward's full focus was on his football and that other matters could not be controlled.

He told the Advertiser: “It always happens, particularly with forwards and whatever level you're at, if they start doing well then they become alerted to the pool of clubs above.

“It's good because it shows you are doing well but Danny is committed to Rotherham and working to do as well as he can for this club.

“He's very much a player myself and the chairman would want to keep.”
