The case of Becky Butcher, of Martin Wells Road, Edlington, was proven in her absence. She was fined £200 and ordered to pay £167 costs.

Doncaster Council’s deputy mayor, Cllr Cynthia Ransome, said:  “We are committed to keeping Doncaster clean and tidy and there is no excuse for littering.

“We are starting the year as we mean to go on and these hefty fines should be a warning  to people that if they are caught dropping litter there will be consequences.

Residents and visitors are reminded that they shouldn’t drop litter in the first place but for those who do, ignoring a fine is not the answer because we are prepared to take anyone to court who fails to pay the penalty.”
