At around 5.15pm on Saturday, supporters from both sides were drinking in The Corn Law Rhymer in Rotherham town centre, when drinks glasses were thrown between rival fans and at bystanders.

Chief Supt Jason Harwin said: “Once again the majority of supporters enjoyed the match today and behaved responsibility throughout.

“Unfortunately, some people got involved in this incident after the game and an investigation is now underway.”

Police are asking anyone who was in the pub at the time and may have witnessed the fight to please call 101 quoting incident number 415 of 7 September or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
