Four arrested after Christmas Day town centre brawl

Four men were arrested in the early hours of Christmas Day after a town centre brawl left one man with serious injuries.

The altercation happened at around 2am at Metz Bar on Main Street.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Three men aged 20, 25 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of wounding and have been bailed pending further enquiries.

A fourth man, aged 21, was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. He remains in custody.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and are keen to hear from anyone who was in the bar at the time of the incident.

A cordon remained in place at the scene while initial enquiries were conducted.

Witnesses, or anyone with information, is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 126 of December 25.
