Girl, 15, assaulted on train

A TEENAGE girl was assaulted by a man on a train as he tried to steal her mobile phone.

The 15-year-old was travelling on a train between Meadowhall and Sheffield on Friday, July 1, at around 4.35pm.

PC Mark Mason, of British Transport Police, said: “A group of three 15-year-old girls boarded a train at Meadowhall. As the train made its way to Sheffield, a man who was sitting nearby got up from his seat and repeatedly pushed one of the girl’s head down and attempted to take her mobile phone.

“He eventually moved on to her friend and snatched her phone which she managed to grab from him before he left the train at Sheffield.

“The man is described as white, aged in his late twenties/ early thirties with short, black hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a waterproof jacket at the time. 

“We need to hear from anyone who was on the same service and may have witnessed what happened.”
