While sources north of the border say the Millers have had a bid of £375,000 rejected, the Scottish club are understood to be reluctant to sell to Rangers, who themselves have tabled several bids.

But Allan says he doen’t want to leave Scotland.

Although Hibs are understood to be willing to let the player’s contract run down and sell him for free next summer, their resolve is sure to be tested by further offers.

Said boss Steve Evans yesterday: “We have walked away from the process. I’ve had a long chat with the boy’s representative and he’s made it clear he want to stay in Scotland and we’ll respect his wishes.

“We’ll stick with squad that we have and we’re ready to go.”
