Publish accounts in the Tizer
IF Cllr Stone is serious about ideas from the public for making savings in the council’s budget, I have a suggestion: why doesn’t he publish, in your paper, the whole of the council’s accounts so that we can see where every penny of their expenditure goes?
I am sure that it would make very interesting reading. With analysis of this information to hand an informed judgement can be made.
He will probably suggest that the accounts are open for public scrutiny anyway, but not everyone has the time to access them and it is our money that we are discussing.
