Retail guru Mary Portas returned to Rotherham on Tuesday, checking out the town's revamped High Street and spending at local businesses.

Retail guru Mary Portas returned to Rotherham on Tuesday, checking out the town's revamped High Street and spending at local businesses.

She was joined by first-time visiter communities minister Brandon Lewis, who also applauded work by Rotherham Borough Council, traders and private investors.

Mr Lewis opened new artisan's gallery The Maker's Emporium, which sells work by 30 local craftspeople.

High Street has seen more than £1.5 million of investment over the last three years, since Mary's Portas Pilot report on Britain's suffering high streets.
