Injury update ahead of vital Dons clash

MILLERS assistant manager Kevin Blackwell is waiting on the fitness of two players ahead of Saturday’s vital trip to relegation rivals MK Dons.

Greg Halford – who suffered whiplash in Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw at Bristol City – and Lloyd Doyley are both receiving treatment from the club’s medical staff.

Blackwell said at his press briefing: “He’s (Halford) still getting treatment, it was whiplash and I think anyone who has had whiplash will know how painful that is.

“He’s cleared the ball and we were coming out and one of their players has ran into the back of him and his head flicked back.

“When the doctor came on he thought it was a head injury so he had to go through the whole procedure once he had come on, that’s why it took so long.

“At the moment he is getting treatment and we will see how he goes.”

Doyley has been in and out of the squad with injury and has had a scan on his latest knee setback that the Millers management team are still waiting for the results of.

“Lloyd Doyley had a scan on his knee and we’re still waiting for the report so at this moment in time I can’t tell you,” said Blackwell.

“We’ve got one or two other niggles, it was a late night to get back (on Tuesday against Bristol City), it’s just rest and recuperation and get them in the medical room to get as many back and fit as quick as we can.

“I think at this stage of the season when it goes game, game, game you know you’re going  to pick up those little niggles but it’s strength of mind that matters now to make sure we’re ready to go again.”
