30th anniversary of Dearne pit closure to be marked by reunion
FORMER miners are being invited to a reunion to mark the 30th anniversary of a Dearne pit closing down.
The Yorkshire Main Heritage Trust is hosting the event at Edlington Top Club at 1.30pm on September 5.
It will follow the unveiling of a new piece of pit artwork in the former pit’s Miners’ at 11am.
The Heritage Trust will also present a replica of the 1920s Edlington Union Branch banner produced as part of a project involving Sir Thomas Wharton Community College students.
