Child sex abuse trial: Sajid Bostan “had affair with teenager”

AN ALLEGED child abuser has admitted having an affair with a teenager but denied he sexually abused her.

The police interviews of six defendants accused of child sex offences were read to the jury by prosecutor Mr Peter Hampton, and Operation Clover investigating officer Det Con Andy Stephanek in the ongoing trial at Sheffield Crown Court today.

Sajid Bostan (38), of Broom Avenue, Broom, faces seven charges relating to one woman between 1990 and 2001, including rape, indecent assault, and aiding and abetting rape.

The woman claimed she first met Sajid when she lived at a children’s home and was forced to perform oral sex upon “Saj” when she was under 16 in Clifton Park while Arshid Hussain was present.

The woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, also claimed she was forced to perform oral sex on “Maj” – who the prosecution say is Majid Bostan.

She said Hussain and Sajid had sex with her while other men watched, and claimed she was forced into having a “threesome” with them. She also claimed Sajid also had anal sex with her when she was under 16.

The woman said she left Rotherham when she was 17 but returned when she was 20 and claimed she was raped by Sajid and Hussain at the Prince of Wales Pub, Masbrough. The woman said she became pregnant after the attack and gave birth to the child.

Sajid was interviewed on March 30, 2015 and admitted knowing the woman but claims he met her around 1999 when she was 19 while he was a bouncer at Zone nightclub.

He said he was also working as a taxi driver and she would ring up and specifically ask for him to pick her up. He said at the time he was married with children, she was in a relationship, but they began seeing each other for eight months.

Sajid also told police he “did not see eye-to-eye” with Hussain and knew him to be trouble from working at the nightclub when he “caused a brawl on the dancefloor” and he tried to throw him out.

He added he only knew the Prince of Wales Pub because of his taxi work and had never been inside, but said he would be willing to take a DNA test in relation to the woman’s child.

Majid Bostan (37), of Ledsham Road, Broom, denied he had received oral sex in Clifton Park and said between 1993-1994, when the alleged indecent assault took place, he would have been 15-16-years-old and working hard in his family’s butcher shop on Wellgate - Bostan and Sons.

Majid said he had never associated with Hussain, and had only heard the complainant’s name when his brother Sajid told him about his arrest in relation to her claims.

Majid said: “She sounds like a scorned woman.”

The trial continues.
