Club to honour brick fans

A PLAQUE is to be installed at Rotherham United's new stadium carrying the names and personal messages of those who lost out in the aborted Buy a Brick scheme.

A PLAQUE is to be installed at the New York Stadium carrying the names and personal messages of those who lost out in the aborted Buy a Brick scheme.

Hundreds of supporters paid money for a commemorative brick to be incorporated into the ill-fated new main stand at the Millers' former home at Millmoor, only for the project to be abandoned amidst the financial problems of the time.

Now the club has agreed to erect a plaque, subscribers from the original list in 2005 are being asked to verify and update their details through supporters' group the Millers Trust.

Spokesman Mark Thomas explained: "The board of Rotherham United has very kindly offered to install a commemorative plaque to be situated inside the New York Stadium to bear the names and personal messages of all those who bought a brick under the 2005 RUST Buy a Brick Scheme.

"The Board is under no obligation to do this and Millers Trust has gratefully accepted this kind gesture.

"It is the sole responsibility of Millers Trust to verify the details of Buy a Brick subscribers on its database. The club will therefore play no part in the verification process.

"Anyone who bought multiple bricks will need to complete a separate Update Form for each brick.

"If you have changed your name and or address since 2005, please also provide your previous name and address for checking against the database."

Subscribers can update their details in one of the following ways:
