A last goodbye to Paul
ROTHERHAM folk turned out in force to say “By-de-Bye” to one of the town’s most famous sons as TV legend Paul Shane was laid to rest.
The former Hi-de-Hi! actor died in Rotherham Hospice two weeks ago, and his ex-castmates Su Pollard, Jeffrey Holland and Ruth Madoc were among the huge congregation at Rotherham Minster on Friday to give him a fitting send-off.
Paul (72) was born in Rotherham and worked as a miner at Silverwood pit before going into showbusiness and becoming a household name.
