The shortlist for The Rotherham Young Entrepreneurs’ Awards

YOUNG professionals from around the town have been nominated for awards that recognise the achievements of business owners under the age of 30.

The shortlist for The Rotherham Young Entrepreneurs’ Awards has been announced and the four categories are; best new start up, most determined to succeed, best established business and most innovative business.

An overall winner will also be crowned the Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

The annual awards are organised by Rotherham Youth Enterprise and the five shortlisted candidates are:

Dawn Brown (29) from Fresh ‘n’ Chic Boutique in Thurcroft which specialises in restoring and selling antique furniture.

Gavin Edley (26) from health product company Vitalife based in the town centre.

Sam Goddard (21) from Response Vehicle Lighting, based at Treeton Youth Enterprise Centre, which supplies commercial and emergency vehicle equipment.

Charlotte Scothern (21) from Patchwork Pig gift shop on Rotherham’s High Street and Paul Tomes (26) from The Expo People which provides exhibition and event consultancy services.

Jackie Frost, manager of Rotherham Youth Enterprise, said the judges have a tough job in deciding who the winners will be.

She added: “Each one of the finalists deserves huge credit not just for getting this far but for the attitude they all have in wanting to be successful business owners”.

The winners will be announced at the Local Employment Advisory Forum skills day at the New York Stadium on November 22.
